The coop

If you are  wondering what happened to my big chickens you are now going to find out. We built a coop with wheels for them.  The coop weighs about 9000 pounds.  With the wheels my 3 year old brother can move it.  My dad is a genius.  Here's what it looks like.
This is their home.  If you look closely you can find my head.
This is the inside of their home.  It has 6 chickens in it.  2 Roosting bars.  Food and water (for standing and pooping in) :p and a nesting area.
My mom says it's a chicken resort.  Soon it will be a 14 chicken resort.  They are going to be free range chickens. They will only be in the coop at night. I have to go feed my chickens.

Baby chickens

I got eight baby chickens yesterday. Here are pictures of them.
This is a Bani Hen.  It's feet are covered in feathers.

This is a chicken.  I don't exactly know what breed it is.  So, I'm going to call it a chicken.

This is a Bani Hen (in the middle) and 3 chickens.

Here's all 8 of my new chickens.  I got 2 Bani's and 6 chickens.
Excuse me, I'm going to go check on my chickens.

Fun Friday

My mom said we could get the Wii out yesterday.  It lives in the basement in a cardboard box.  We had friends out.  Samuel liked it.  He looked like a tomato.  You'll have to turn you head side-ways to watch this.  I don't know how to rotate it.  And I don't know if this will work.  We will see.

Kitchen Tools

You will never guess what my mom uses as a kitchen tool.  She uses a hack-saw.
Here are the pictures : )

She wants me to tell you that her biggest pan is not big enough for an entire deer leg.  So she has to cut off the end.  Anyone hungry?

More Manure

I was thinking about when we went to my mom's friend Sonya's farm to help her clean out her barn.  Mrs. Sonya has about 200 goats.  That is a lot of manure.  While we were there we made up another song about poop.  "I scoop, you scoop, we all scoop goat poop."  Sounds a little familiar.

So all of our plants are now drowning in a mixture of too much rain and lots of poo.  Happy plants.

And - Happy Sunday - one week till Easter. Today is the Lord's day.

Manure

We had friends out this week so I didn't have time to post this.  It was busy, we had to move a big pile of manure into my moms garden. My friend Samuel did most of the work.  It was sticky and stinky. Here is a song I made up about it  "I scoop, you scoop, we all scoop horse poop".  My mom thinks it is funny.

In our garden this year this is what we are growing (so far):  lettuce, carrots, peas, beans, flowers, oregano, lemon balm, garlic, onions, asparagus, radishes, broccoli, and cauliflower.  We will plant more in May.

We also have peaches, strawberries, raspberry, and black berries.

Canibals

Tonight my mom turned my chickens into cannibals- yes cannibals. It started like this. We had chicken for dinner.  There were some leftovers. My mom fed my chickens the leftovers. And they liked it.  So that is how my chickens became cannibals.

Gardening

My mom loves to garden.  We have a nice garden in our side yard.  My siblings and I each have our own garden bed that we are going to plant whatever we want in them.  It's raining today so I can't get you any pictures.  I will post this week some gardening tips and pictures.

Cickens LOVE roostingbars. A roostingbar is a little bar that runs across the cage about a foot from the floor of the cage. You will have to change thier food and water regularly. The place where I got my chickens is
tractor supply co. If you use hay, straw, ect. you will only have to change their bedding once a week.
